Touchy Feely...

My youngest Andrew is 3 years old, he will be 4 in July.  When he was born we decided that I could stay home with him.  I wasn't able to do that with my daughter.

I can't believe how different these children are I think because I worked with one and stayed home with the other.

Em, my oldest who is 9 years old has never liked to cuddle not even when she was a toddler.

Andrew, my youngest, OH MY GOD.. he seriously has to be up my butt at all times.

He has to sit next to me when I'm sitting, he has to lay with me when I'm laying.

When laying in my bed while I'm giving him a nap, he has to cuddle.
"Can I cuddle you Mama?"  he asks every single day.

I show him tons of affection, but I've never been a person who likes to cuddle.

I'm sitting here right now in my recliner writing this and he's next to me with his little arm around my neck.

"Andrew, why do you have to touch me all the time?"
"Cause, I love you Mama."

Yes, it melts my heart, but shit.. he's like a freaking furnace!!!  He makes me sweat.

He pokes, squeezes, knocks and caresses my arms, legs and head any chance he can get.

Anyone else have a little one attached them at all times??

Thanks for reading
xoxo

  1. When my son was little, he was permanently attached to me during all waking hours. I had to remain in his line of sight at all times, which made using the bathroom and dropping him off at daycare once a week all kinds of fun

  2. He will be starting Pre-K in the fall, not looking forward to that business! Maybe he will surprise me and not freak out! HaHa

  3. My son has two boys. The youngest is a cuddlebum, the oldest not so much. I do not see any difference in how they were parented, so I think it is more genetic than social.

  4. I think it might be a little boy thing. Mine (also my youngest) is the same way. I tell my husband all the time that I think I must have a magnet in my hip that keeps him attached to it. I love it, but sometimes I'm like "A little space, please?!?"

  5. Me and my twin , we both are always doing the same thing. My twin is bit reserve from mum but I always lay down with her , telling what I did all my day. It's all up to kids.

  6. I have 2 boys, the oldest is now 19. He liked a little cuddling when young but nothing like my youngest. He always wanted to cuddle and needed a lot of affection. He is now 12 and still likes to cuddle with Mom and Dad (kind of weird?). I actually was able to stay home longer with the oldest than the youngest so I have always felt guilty that the youngest needed more attention because I was not able to stay home with him as long (so the opposite of your situation!) I am not a cuddler by nature. I like my space. My husband is a huge cuddler. ) over the years I have begun to think maybe the oldest is just more like me and the youngest more like Dad and needs more attention and contact. I think it might be a mix of things, a little genetic, a little social and a little situational maybe?

  7. POST REQUEST! Can you do a post on more stuff you think is different between your kids because you stayed home with one and worked with the other? You've been on both sides of that eternal debate, I would love to hear what you have to say about it.

  8. Both my boys are cuddle bugs, which as you know can be nice but can also be a pain in the ass. I love to cuddle but my youngest who is 2 but he is a little possessive of me. He has this thing where he rubs my cheek on my face when he drinks milk. He started doing it when he was breast feeding which is endearing but still does it even though he drinks out of cups and will search me out if he has milk he wants to drink. My youngest also punched his father in the mouth because he was cuddling with me and the little one didn't like it. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a little stalker. Thanks for sharing!

    1. He punched his Dad. Haha.. that is so sad and freaking funny. My little one doesn't like when Chris loves on me either.

    2. My husband kinda deserved it. He looked right at the little one and said "My mama" so naturally Porter punched him in the mouth. He was kinda asking for it, lol.

  9. My son is only 10 months old but he is very independent until its time to nap or go to bed. He will only sleep in our room (in the pack & play) Sometimes he is in my bed...I know its a bad habit. But when mamma need to get sleep before my alarm goes off at 4am for work its jsut easier to have him sleep with me. I hope it gets better!
New follower on GFC and Facebook, would love for you to stop by!

    1. I'm done with the bad habit crap. I do what easiest for both of us. I will deal with the repercussions later. :)

  10. IMO, this is probably something only a mama can truly answer. How much touchy/feely is too much? And once you start down that road, can you change course?

  13. My youngest who is nine loves to cuddle, lay and sit with me... She tells me she loves me over and over...

Although it can be exhausting at times, I do understand that she does this because her father isn't around at the moment and I am the only one she has.... so I tell her I love her and give her as many hugs as possible. :)

  14. Awwww I think he's cute! But I feel ya. I don't want to cuddle either. I have these little (darling!) twins that MUST be held 24/7... Or maybe it just feels that way because there's 2 of them?

  15. This is my first time over here. Nice blog! And holy cow- a liebster 11 times over? That's insane! You must be really really awesome. :) This is Julie from Fabulous Blogging and Julie 2.0. I can't seem to comment as either of those when I'm on Blogger. As for this post, I can relate to the cling-on kid. My oldest is exactly that way!

  17. Ladies enjoy it now because when they hit those tween/teen years its all over. I have three that were all different, one would only cuddle with daddy (yup daddy's girl), one that didn't want to be cuddled at all, and one that would cuddle anyone and everyone including the repairman! Now that they are 23, 19, and 15 there are no more cuddle times. Well the one that never cuddled will now if he wants something...typical man.

  18. My son used to be that way. I mean, the boy freaking slept with me until he turned 10! (Um yeah, that's a whole 'nother blog post) I have to bribe him for affection now, and I might, maybe get a hug when I give him something he likes, but I accept the fact that he's not very touchy-feely.

My diva Chihuahua on the other hand, is up my ass 24/7. And I'm still not sure I even like dogs, much less want to morph with one.
